The Camsizer m1 operates on the basis of static image analysis (ISO 13322-1) and covers a measuring range from 0.5 µm to 1500 µm. The most common techniques to determine the particle size distribution are dynamic image analysis (DIA), static laser light scatter-ing (SLS, also called laser diffraction) and sieve analysis. <b>This white paper presents the advantages and drawbacks of each technique, their comparability among each other as well as detailed application examples. </b> Each method covers a characteristic size range within which measurement is possible and which partly overlap. The three methods discussed here, for example, all measure particles in a range from 1 μm to 5 mm. However, the results for measuring the same sample can vary considerably. Higher resolution and extended measuring range
Retsch Technology’s new particle analyzer CAMSIZER X2 With the CAMSIZER X2 RETSCH TECHNOLOGY presents the next generation of the well-proven dynamic image analysis system CAMSIZER XT. The new analyzer provides an extended dynamic measuring range from 0.8 µm to 8 mm with short measurement times and excellent reproducibility. The new product generation is based on the patented two-camera-system which consists of two cameras with different resolutions, operating simultaneously and permitting measurements in a wide dynamic size range. This principle has been realized in the CAMSIZER X2 with a new optical concept: two light sources with different wave lengths and an innovative light path allow for images with increased depth of focus and for an image resolution improved by factor 2. Dynamic Image Analysis replaces sieving The new CAMSIZER P4 is the systematic enhancement and optimization of the well-proven CAMSIZER system for the determination of particle size and particle shape with Dynamic Image Analysis. Based on the unique dual camera technology the new generation offers improved performance and extended functionalities. Compared to the previous model, the CAMSIZER® P4 boasts faster cameras with higher resolution, a stronger light source and new software features, resulting in even faster measurements and an extended measuring range. Reliable Particle Shape Analysis with the CAMSIZER®
In many industries, particle shape is of great importance for the production process. For quality assurance purposes it is sometimes vital to detect differences in the particle shape of different charges as it may have a huge influence on certain product characteristics, e.g. flow behaviour or abrasion, and can therefore help to draw conclusions on flaws in the production process. To determine the particle size and shape reliably and reproducibly, digital image analysis – such as is used in Retsch Technology’s CAMSIZER - is the method of choice. The CAMSIZER® analyses the particle size and shape of dry bulk materials in a size range from 30 µm to 30 mm. With its unique, patented two-camera system it records up to 10,000 particles per second, with an unrivaled dynamic size range.
