Lödige Ploughshare® laboratory mixer type L 1 Lödige builds the smallest machine in its company history
Lödige Ploughshare® laboratory mixer type L 1
Lödige builds the smallest machine in its company history Lödige Process Technology has built the smallest machine in its company history in order to meet the highly specialised demands of the high-containment segment: The Ploughshare® laboratory mixer type L 1 now being supplied supplements the L series and has a drum volume of only one litre. What led to this new development was an enquiry by an existing customer: This company was looking for a process engineering solution for exceptionally challenging dry mixtures for its development lab. As powdered substances such as these can be highly sensitive, extremely expensive or perhaps even hazardous to health and the environment, the only suitable solution was a contained process in a gas-tight container, also referred to as “glovebox”. That means: the mixer can only be operated and serviced within a glass safety housing using integrated gloves. For this reason, the machine must be designed to meet special requirements - and the mini-mixer meets all of them in full: Thanks

Successorship at Merz Aufbereitungstechnik GmbH
"Tradition remains – innovation comes" In 1919 Karl Merz took the step to become self-employed with the Karl Merz Maschinenfabrik in the field of mechanical bulk solids processing. Thirty years later, his son Karl Heinrich Merz took over the company, expanded it and ran it until 1990. Since then, the company has been successfully managed by the third generation of Karlheinz Merz until 2019. During his time, the name was changed from Karl Merz Maschinenfabrik to Merz Aufbereitungstechnik, since the company had established itself as a sought-after specialist in the mechanical processing of bulk materials. Karlheinz Merz passed away unexpectedly on the company`s 100th birthday last year and his wife Marianne Kramer-Merz took over the company as managing director. To date, the Merz family has led the company through all ups and downs for an entire century with an excellent team of employees – a remarkable achievement. Our long history continues in 2020 under the talented leadership and successorship of Falko

MOLOScode patent for 30 years Patent for the development of intelligent hose couplings
MOLOScode patent for 30 years
Patent for the development of intelligent hose couplings Whether a hose is connected to the coupling station or not, is an important information for the PLC. But it would be even better to know, which hose is connected where. In order to get this information, it is necessary to equip the hose couplings with “intelligence”. For this Wolfgang Hageleit, founder and managing director of MOLLET-Füllstandtechnik GmbH had an idea and developed a solution, that was patented already 30 years ago on August 9, 1990. He pushed forward although this innovation and developed it with his team to the marketability. He solved existing problems of the customers and built up a new product line, that contributes an essential part to the success of MOLLET. This is the intelligent coupling-system MOLOScode that makes an incorrect connection of flexible and rigid pipelines impossible. Each hose gets a transponder and any pipe connection is equipped with a reading device that informs the PLC about the hose that has been connected directly

Kemp increases production yield at dry mortar factory
Realization 2-compartment silo for production increase At Remix Droge Mortel BV - Hardenberg, a 12 meter high 2 compartment silo was placed last week. In order to increase the existing production yield, Kemp bv was commissioned to adjust the production process, by placing a silo directly above the bagging machine. In close collaboration with partner companies, a self-supported steel construction was realized, over the existing roof, on which the silo was placed. In combination with a 3 meter long stainless steel vibrating conveyor equipped with a VibraDrive® (Alvibra) and a bucket elevator (including cleaning bottom), the product is transported into the silo. In addition, the silo is also equipped with blow-in pipes. A sound-insulated instrumentation compartment has been realized on the top of the silo, which minimizes noise emission to the surroundings. Furthermore, 1 compartment is equipped with a anti-segregation construction which has previously proved its effectivity.

AirScrape controls dust and material a a Dolomit Plant
At mineral processing 01-02/2017 Conventional skirting is pressed against a conveyor belt so that dust and material stays in the middle of the belt when it reaches a belt transfer point. But after a certain time, wear at the skirting and belt can be so severe that material and dust can escape. The result is unnecessary spillage of material and forma- tion of dust. This used to be the case at Rump & Salzmann Gip- swerk Uehrde GmbH & Co. KG, which operates a dolomite quarry in Uehrde. Here, at the transfer from the rotary crusher to the belt conveyor, there were always big problems with dust and material losses. Several tonnes of material spillage had to be removed at this transfer point every three months. Repeated maintenance was required at the transfer point and the belt skirting. Finally, operations manager at Rump & Salzmann, Uwe Schridde, contacted ScrapeTec. Following an assessment of the situation on site, AirScrape was installed (Fig.). AirScrape works according to a completely new principle,

AirScrape: Non-stop clean innovation
Global Gypsum Magazine 05/2019: Conveying With the innovative AirScrape side seals, spills and dust at transfer points in conveying systems and belt damages are a thing of the past. In the gypsum industry, contamination of conveyor systems and dust generation during operation are a well-known problem. Conventional side seals at belt transfer points can help, but even friction forces quickly wear them out. This causes them to lose their effect and also damage the belt of the conveyor over the long-term. This, in turn, increases the costs of maintenance and/or replacement. The AirScrape from ScrapeTec Trading Ltd. is different and represents a rare innovation in that it increases the service life of conveyor belts, per- manently saves on cleaning costs and is virtually maintenance-free. Beyond the chute and conveyor belt, the AirScrape ensures high levels of cleanliness. Wilfried Dünnwald, developer and manag- ing partner of ScrapeTec Trading, developed the AirScrape in 2013 due to a specific inquiry from a

Clean air in manufacturing plants The Corona pandemic is a wake-up call to improve air quality inside manufacturing plants and other spaces
Clean air in manufacturing plants
The Corona pandemic is a wake-up call to improve air quality inside manufacturing plants and other spaces Technological solutions are available for manufacturers to maintain their plant air relatively free of fine dust and viruses. Ulrich Stolz, Head of Technical Engineering at Keller Lufttechnik in Kirchheim unter Teck near Stuttgart, explains how this works, which systems are required, and where it is advisable to use them. Until recently, air pollutants such as coolant and oil mist, welding fumes or dust from machining processes have been the primary focus when it came to the safe filtration of emissions in manufacturing plants. Presently, during the time of the Corona pandemic, the question arises as to whether companies should also protect their employees against viruses, especially the Corona virus Sars-CoV-2, and how to effectively implement this protection. The Corona virus is a largely airborne hazard It is important to know that viruses are microscopic in size. They measure only 20 to 330 nanometers (= thousandths of a micrometer, μm). According to current

Extreme temperatures for level measurement devices
MOLOSroto rotary blade level switches solve even tough measuring problems Level measurement in bulk goods has always been a challenging demand for measuring devices. Due to consequent advancement, the MOLOSroto rotary blade level indicators proven and tested for many decades have reached now a technological level, that predestine them for nearly any kind of level measurement applications in bulk solids. These precise and reliable level measuring sensors provide in many areas of the complete process chain the required measuring accuracy and contribute to a high-quality and economic processing of bulk goods even in extreme high temperatures. For the development of this high-temperature device a lot of testing was required. The sensors were heated up to temperatures of 1.000 °C in a test oven and the heat emission of the cooling elements was measured. Based on these measuring results the really needed dimensions of the temperature decoupling element could be identified. The heat distribution in the device has been exactly analyzed with pictures

Gentle touch for insect eggs
Gentle touch for insect eggs
Did you know that our mixers can very gently mix brittle dried insects and even live matter, such as insect eggs? Our drum mixer with ‘gentle touch’ technology is located in the breeding grounds of a renowned insect breeder in Asia, and provides insect eggs with a nourishing shell. Once hatched, the little ones imagine themselves to be in the land of plenty, which stimulates them to transform faster. Billions of eggs When processing insect eggs, it’s more about volume and less about weight. Just one gram contains 40 - 50 thousand eggs. It’s a huge challenge to mix millions of eggs homogeneously with another solid, and to still keep them alive in the process. By applying our ‘gentle touch technology’, more than 97 percent of the eggs emerge from the mixing process undamaged. This is because our mixer works in batches for optimal mixing. Successful trials Extensive trials at the Lindor test centre show that the Gentle Touch drum mixer perfectly mixes a batch

High performance screen aggregates for the asphalt industry RHEWUM supplied various asphalt mixing plant operators with new DF screening units for the season.
High performance screen aggregates for the asphalt industry
RHEWUM supplied various asphalt mixing plant operators with new DF screening units for the season. In general asphalt is a mixture of minerals and bitumen as binder. In asphalt mixing plants asphalt mixes are produced by a thermal mixing process of mineral rocks, filler (rock flour), binder (bitumen) and if necessary additives for different requirements. Screening machines are required to classify the mineral rock for these processes. Like for example the Rhewum double Frequency Screening Machine (short DF) - a high performance unit for screening in the medium and coarse grain range. The drive principle of the DF is based on the use of two vibration motors with different speeds. The product is loosened and mixed at the screen inlet due to the large vibration amplitude. The higher frequency at the screen outlet causes even difficult to screen material to be screened due to the higher acceleration. By changing the direction of rotation of the vibration motors at the inlet and outlet, the transport speed of the product can be changed. Advantages include good accessibility
