Screening on a gigantic scale
The biggest free-swinging screening machine that Engelsmann has ever built for screening tea was supplied at the end of September. Engelsmann received the somewhat unusual order to plan and build a long-stroke screening machine (which had never been supplied in this size) for classifying tea varieties in May of this year.
All in one: coarse and fine material screening in one machine
Tailored to the customer‘s specific requirements, the Engelsmann free-swinging screening machine guarantees precise and gentle screening of the highly fragile tea components. The extremely selective
classifying process also results in the screened tea product being of a high quality. To be able to separate different sizes of tea leaves and sort them from foreign bodies (wooden needles, plant residue) using one machine, the free-swinging unit is equipped as a double-decker with two 8 m² screening surfaces, split into a top deck for coarse material screening and a lower deck for fine material screening. The long-stroke screening machine is adjusted to the requirements of different tea varieties by way of the variable screening surface inclination, as well as the changeable stroke length and movement frequency.
Easy to operate and clean in spite of its size
In addition to gentle screening with a high level of selectivity, the tea screening machine is characterised
by being easy to use despite its size. The opening of the screen cover is supported using pneumatic springs and enables easy access to all areas of the screen trough, just like the generously sized inspection and assembly openings. To guarantee a continual screen throughput, a thread cleaning device is installed, which permanently cleans the individual screening surfaces using impact knocking balls. Further benefits for the client are the low energy consumption thanks to the swing drive based on mass balancing and the low-noise and low-vibration machine operation.
