Weighing equipment made smarter.

NEW. A load cell junction b

It seems too good to be true, a system that can find out if independent load cells are functional or not. Even better,- a system that can automatically adjusting the calibration when a load cell or the weighing indicator has been changed!

Most measuring and weighing systems, based on strain gage load cells, consist of more than one sensor. These sensors are usually connected analogue by a junction box. Since the sensors are all connected parallel, the average measurement of the sensors is sent to the system. This way of operation works fine, until a load cell breaks down. The challenge usually is to find out which of the loadcells is defect. This is usually not sufficiently identified and the system continues to operate with a deficiency.

In order to overcome this drawback we developed an ”intelligent” load cell cable junction box, the SIGMA4. During a system test, the junction box and the indicator measures the load cell output per sensor, compares this against data specs and determines if it is within spec.
When a load cell is faulty, it can simply be switched of. Thus the measuring system can with some restriction, - temporarily operate with fewer sensors.
The advantage is an immediate recognition of which load cell is faulty and what the deviation is.
Furthermore this module supports TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet), meaning that individual sensors information is available and can be compared. This facilitates automatic re-justification. As an added extra the instrument stores all calibration data, optionally in the pc program Pi.

The SIGMA4 is compatible with the new PENKO weighing instruments. It is suitable for 1 up to 4 load cells, with or without sense. Special provisions are superfluous, the usual load cell power supply is sufficient fort his connection box.
The industrial housing is made of stainless steel with protection class IP65. Excluding the glands the size is 180 x 150 x 95 mm.
